Featured Technique of the Month
Technique: DeVine Guard Pass
Description: Start with a solid base, staple the hip with one hand, and control the floating rib with the other. Base out with your knee, bring the other knee past your opponent’s tailbone, arch your back, and sit back. This pressure opens the guard, allowing for a slice-over pass or stack pass. Remember, the hand stapling the hip determines which knee comes into the tailbone.

This Month's Spotlight: Jack Sudduth
About: Jack, a four-stripe blue belt, began teaching at our Calvert MMA/Lineage BJJ location in March 2024. Here's what Jack had to share:
"I started training Jiu-Jitsu in March 2021, inspired by friends who were already training. From my first day at Calvert MMA/Lineage BJJ, I felt at home. The technique, people, and training made this the right academy for me.
After three months, I competed as a white belt and got hooked. Competing tests me mentally, physically, and emotionally, and it has made me a better person. Since June 2021, I've competed in 65 competitions with 287 matches, achieving 173 wins, 112 losses, and 2 draws."
We are proud to have Jack on our teaching team and look forward to his continued growth.
